Hello there!
MTL's Treasures is a segment where I tell you all the goodies you can find in Montreal. This city is packed with a bunch of events throughout the year and we should enjoy them!
Today I went to Quartier des spectales, an area near the Place des Arts metro station where there are many festivals such as the annual Just for Laughs and International Jazz festivals. Although these festivities occur in summer, there is a couple of things to do there during winter. Luminothérapie is an attraction composed of 7 animations projected on large buildings in Downtown Montreal. I visited the one in the Quartier des spectacles which is considered as the main one due to the additional installation of a luminous field of flowers that changes colors.
I took many pictures so here is a a couple of them!
As you can see, you have the chance of walking through the field! I love how the lighting changes into multiple colors and gradients. There is a soothing music in the field and it really helps you to bring into a state of peace! Here is a video:

The animation I saw was called Carnival and it is projected on the UQAM building. It is very colorful and kids and adults will surely love it as much as I did! There were many drivers on the road who watched a bit of it when the red light was on. Carnival reminded me a bit of VJing, which is the art of live video performance. You can spot several wacky character such as a hot-dog and a tiger!
I really liked Luminothérapie! It is a must-see attraction during winter and everyone can enjoy it. The 4th edition of Luminothérapie started on December 22, 2013 and it will end February 2, 2014 so there is time to see it. More information on other installations and how to get there is here.
Do you guys like the idea of this sort of activity?
Take care! xox
